The Volumiser – Oracy tip from a colleague

“Each week we choose three pupils in the class who have a special job during whole-class talk. They stand up when they can’t hear what one of their peers is saying. We call it The Volumiser! It’s a simple non-verbal signal with a big impact. The student speaking recomposes themself and says their point again, louder. It’s made such a difference to the quality of talk in the classroom.”

“It helps me. They’re telling me to be louder.”
