Use Story Chain to help your learners recall fiction, processes, explanations and chronological events.
Start by saying a short, incomplete sentence or paragraph, then pass the ‘story’ to the next student; they continue the story. Each student adds, having listened carefully to remember and build on what the previous person said. The chain continues around the group.
For younger children, this is a great way to get them to practise turn-taking and participating in a trio. For older students, the challenge is to add more and more detail, and if they are ready, they can do this in larger groups or as a whole class.
To increase the challenge, use random selection or speaker chooses rather than go in a set order.
