Try asking your students, What makes a good class?
You could start by giving them one minute to individually think of three things their perfect class would have. They could then discuss these in pairs or trios and see if they could come up with the two most important ones.
Then go into whole-class dialogue.
This is a good opportunity for your students to practise using ground rules.
It’s also a good opportunity for you to practise your facilitation skills. For example:
That’s interesting – tell us a bit more.
Why do you think that?
Can you give an example?
What do others think? Do you agree or disgaree, F?
What do you think about what R said?
Is that always true?
Would anyone like to respectfully challenge?
